How clean is your drinking water?

How clean is your drinking water

After hearing rumours, stories and goings-on about our water supply, and the purity thereof, I decided that it was time to take a closer look at the situation.

There is always someone in my family complaining of stomach ailments, or someone close who has a dodgy tummy, and this got me thinking about whether our drinking water is as pure as it is supposed to be. My parents have been using a water purification system in their home for quite a while and I decided to take a look at the options and the difference between using a water filter and a water purification system.

First off... there is no comparison between the two.  A water filter is simply that. It filters large particulates from the water. So if you are worried about worms in the water*, lime scale and chlorine, then this is all you need.  A water purification system is a 7-stage purifier that removes metals, bacteria, small and large particulates, chlorine and the like - in fact it removes between 95 and 98 percent of everything that shouldn't be in the water and guarantees crystal clear drinking water.

Based on my research, I called out the guys from
Blue Spot (see Home-Dzine Online - March 09 issue). The system was installed in under an hour - no mess or fuss - and after flushing the system a couple of times we now have crystal clear purified water on tap. But there is more to the story...

The next day Blue Spot came out to check the system and run a test on the purified water. Although the system had only been installed for one day, we were already drinking clean water.

Using a TDS meter both the tap water and purified water were tested for total dissolved solids.  The tap water measure 105 and the purified water measured 12 - the lower the figure the less TDS there is in the water.

The next step was to simulate or speed up the corrosion process of metals and elements in the water.  RIGHT: Using a process of  electrolysis one glass was filled with water from the tap, and the other with water from the Blue Spot Water Purifier.

RIGHT: The results are immediate. The glass on the right contains normal
tap water. The glass on the left contains water taken from the Blue Spot Water Purification System.

The water in the glass on the right is starting to turn yellow as the electrolysis unit corrodes the metals in the water. The purified water in the glass on the left remain clear, despite the fact that the system was only installed the day before!

RIGHT: After a total of five minutes there is a distinct difference between the two glasses of water. The purified water still remains clear, the tap water is coated with a layer of scum.

This is the water that we are drinking!

Installing a water purification system in the home guarantees that you and your family don't drink water that is infested, or contains an overdose or chlorine, flouride, or whatever else they decide to put in - or leave in - the water.

With our crystal clear drinking water on tap we definitely don't have to worry about the tap water anymore.  And forget about bottled water!  Recycle your glass bottles and fill them up with purified water and save a fortune on having to buy bottled water which, by the way, may also contain tap water!

*It was recently reported in the news that residents in East London found small mysterious worms in their water. Turned out the municipality confirmed that the drinking water was safe according to their tests, but omitted to mention that they didn't test for worms!

There is no substitute for a high quality drinking water filter such as the one described in this article. The reality is that there are thousands of dangerous chemicals in even the "cleanest" municipal source. Take back the control and install something in your own home.

I am shocked to read this article and the lack of knowledge the author exhibits. It is no secret that the electric precipitator or 'jam jar' test described is based on a outright lie and is being used in wide-spread scams, see www.watertestscam.org.za Further, the WHO has indicated that drinking highly pure water (with low TDS) poses health risks, see: http://www.who.int/water_sanitation_health/dwq/nutdemineralized/en/ I would urge readers to do their own research before buying a water purification system, and that they do it better than the author.

What is the function of water in your body?
Water is there to hydrate the cells.
That is the sole function of water in your body, the efficiency of your cells to hydrate is directly linked to the TDS (Total Disolved Solids) of the water that you drink.
The lower the TDS the better, but a low TDS does not mean that water is safe for human consumtion.
The real danger in our drinking water is chlorine and hormones!
Yes hormones, we all know there are hormones in our food and in the medicines that we take.
Birth control pills are one of the biggest problems.
The under counter units that you install in your house does improve water quality but it isn't the best option.
Most (over 90%) of all metals and minerals that are disolved in water are in an inorganic form.
Your body can only take up metals and minerals that are in an organic form, the calcuim for example that is found in water is useless to us.
Kobus, the precipatator test is a good indicator if you only want to look at the TDS of water.
But we shouldn't look at TDS alone.
