Easter Project Make a Message Board

Gilz

Get organised and make your own message board to post those endless to do lists, school calendars and reminder notes.  With this message board you won’t need to stress of constantly making mental notes.

Easter project make a message boardTo make a dazzling message board, glue crystals, beads, coloured tacks or antique buttons around the edges of a purchased board or if you’re really feeling energetic, you could even make your own message board.

A cork message board is the easiest to make, here’s what you’ll need:

  • Two pieces of  cork board (you can purchase mine at an office supply store)
  • Heavy duty all-purpose glue
  • Whatever fabrics you like to cover the board with
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon
  1. Glue two pieces of cork board together – one isn’t thick enough for tacks.
  2. First decide what fabrics you are going to use. Use a variety of colours to add interest, but you could use more simple colours as well. Warning, if you use really pretty fabrics, you may not want to put anything on your board!
  3. You’ll want to cut a piece approximately one inch bigger than the cork board so you can wrap the extra fabric around the edge to the other side.
  4. Glue the corners of fabric on the back side of your board, and then put glue around all the fabric edges  You could also use staples instead.

If you have brought a whiteboard you could use memorable magnets to funk it up by gluing a pretty jewel onto a small mirror and attaching the assemblage to a magnet.  Or customise magnets to include your favourite photo or company logo.  These funky magnets will keep all your notes firmly attached to your newly created message board.

The possibilities are endless…use your creativity and get the whole family involved.  A great Easter Project if you’re not planning on going away on holiday.

Tip: Make sure to use glue that’s strong enough for the materials you’re adhering.
