Always looking for a thingy-mabob!

Janice Anderssen

We women are at a disadvantage when it comes to looking for hardware, screws, hand tools and other odds and ends that we need for home repair and do-it-yourself. Our male counterparts have had plenty of time to learn, discover and be informed, but we are still new at this.

I am sure that many of you have experienced the embarrassment of walking into a hardware store to find a "thingy-mabob" - one of those items that you know what it looks like but have no idea whatsoever for what it's actually called!  We stand there trying to describe what it does and how it works, only to be met by blank stares.

DIY Divas Joburg are now offering a FREE course that takes the mystery out of hardware and takes you through a hardware store to uncover those wierd and unusual items. Take a walk through Pennypinchers/Timbercity in Strubens Valley with Nina - our DIY Diva - and enjoy presentations by the various experts in a relaxed and informal workshop that makes hardware simple.

If you've had enough of being met with blank stares and lack of knowledge you will thoroughly enjoy this course. The venue boasts a well-stocked, easily laid out way to find what you're looking for, and the Coffee Shop will provide all the refreshments and snacks for the event.

Book online at DIY Divas and we hope to see you there!
