South Africa leads the way in design and invention

It makes me feel proud when we South Africans are at the forefront when it comes to design and invention, and I have two new products that I would like to share with you.

The first is the brain child of Heather Moskowitz, a housewife who was looking for options to repair a few chipped tiles in her own home. Being unable to source a suitable product she came up with the Chipped Tile Repair Kit.

Accidents do happen ... children drop toys, pots get dropped in the kitchen, and as a popular flooring choice a tiled floor is susceptible to chips from everyday use. If you have a tile floor in your home, chances are you will eventually find yourself needing to repair a chip. After searching high and low for a solution she realised that there was a definite need for a repair kit that one could use to repair chips in tiles, without having to replace one tile - or even several tiles - and avoid the mess and expense involved, not to mention not being able to match your existing tiles. 

Each Chipped Tile Repair Kit comes with everything you need, including step by step simple instructions to fix a chip in any tile, no matter the size or colour. The coloured fluid has been specially formulated to mix easily, dry quickly and is extremely durable. The standard size repair kit contains 10ml bottles, enough to repair over 100 medium sized chips.

A design first for South Africa. Manufacturers of childrens bed and furniture, Design-A-Bed have just launched their new Cutie Pie range of cots.

What is unique about these cots is that each cot has a removable inner that forms the sides.  Made of 100% washable fabric, the inner can be removed and washed as required in order to ensure that you child's cot is hygienic all the time. Plus, because the inner can be easily removed, you can change the colour of a nursery as often as you like.  Pink for a girl, blue for a boy, or cream, green and dark brown.
