How-To-Tuesday

Hestelle Robinson

I am toying with the idea of a “vintage-paper” theme for our Christmas table this year.  Not only will it be something different but I also think it will be easy on the pocket.  Well easy-ish all depending on how carried away I get…

Today, I share a low on budget but high on WOW paper garland with you.

What you will need:

  • Old book (Do not worry no good books were harmed in this demonstration.  As a book lover I hate defacing books so I re-appropriated one of my hubby’s Stephen King books.  Ha ha ha)
  • Paper punch
  • Sewing Machine
  • Eyelids and eyelid punch
  • Key rings

Get comfortable, switch on your favourite music or programme and start punching.  I must admit that I cheated a bit on this one.  During the school holidays I turned this into a family game and had the three little‘luns punch away.

Once you have a healthy heap of circles (or in my case the kids caught me out and realised it was actually work and not a game) you ready to start sewing.

Place two circles on top of each other and then stitched them together with a small zigzag stitch, then feed the next two through, the circles should touch but not overlap.

To tidy it up, I punched eyelids on the first and last circle and then slipped a key ring on, I though it would be easier to hook and hang.

And TA-DA... my vintage paper garland.
