Go green with Bamboo

Hestelle Robinson

This eco friendly, versatile plant is just what our planet needs so desperately today. With all the do’s and don’ts to try and save the environment bamboo is just perfect as it is biodegradable and durable.

Bamboo grows rapidly, even in the wild, so there is never a shortage, it is light weight yet exceptionally strong, even stronger than steel.  It is also allergy free and supplies more oxygen than trees = life!

This versatile plant’s uses are endless.  In its raw form it can be used as a screening solution or for cladding, other uses include pencils, pens, clothing pegs, chopsticks, carpets and linen.  Bamboo linen compares with silk and cashmere, it does not cling and is great as air circulating bed covers that help your body maintain its temperature, it is washer and tumble dry safe.

There are many types of bamboo the most commonly used is Moso for its durability and sustainability.  Another great feature of Moso is that it does not in any way threaten the Panda as they do not eat this species of bamboo.

We can go on and on about bamboo, but all good things must come to an end, sad but true.
