I told you about my recent obsession with white, especially white on white. Happy to report that the fad has not passed (yet). So today's how-to is yes you guessed it ... white on white. For fun I worked in a bit of cream.
A while ago, on a whim, I bought a “few” paper lanterns (read .... large stack, enough to deplete half the Sappi forrest).
These curvy paper balls have been lying on my workshop table ever since. Teasing me with all it could be; Maybe decoupaged photos? Or felt polka dots? Or what about milk bottle flowers?! What to do? So I did what comes naturally, nothing.
But this morning inspiration arrived in the most unlikely form of a paper doily (don’t even ask).
So, two cups of tea and several crochet flowers later my Birdie Balloon is done.
How to:
Supplies used:
* Paper lantern
* Paper doily
* Crochet yarn (white and cream) and needle
* Beads (wooden) for top string and bird's feet
* Glue gun
Tip: For the top string: To crochet with beads is easier than you think, measure the wool, cut and thread the beads onto the yarn. I used a needle, made it much easier, I then pulled up a bead into every third stitch.
Fold the doily in half and glue the wings, beak, eyes and legs in position.
I found the inspiration for the birdie on Lucy's blog Attic24 go look here.
May inspiration find you!
