2011 Cape HOMEMAKERS Expo

The CTICC will once again host a panorama of fantastic home improvement ideas, all under one roof.

Apart form the trend setting and inspirational 300 stands, be sure not to miss the exciting feature areas that presented each year.

This year's highlights include decor and accessories, which will be presented for the third year. Showcasing the latest cutting edge style in contemporary decor trends, this feature is bound to wet any decorating appetite.

Stimulate your taste buds at d'Vine life, with a selection of good wines, great cheeses, olives and other gourmet goodies.

The Future of Design, presented for the 6th year in a row, will showcase the latest in Upcycling with some of South Africa’s leading designers leading the way. Upcycling is the process of converting waste or useless materials into new products of better quality or higher environmental value  …Upcycling is an even greener way of recycling – find a new purpose for your unwanted items before you chuck them away.

Another very exciting project at this year’s Cape HOMEMAKERS Expo is ClockArt. A variety of artists, including fine artists, designers, ceramicists, fashion designers and mosaic artists were invited to create a wall clock. The clocks will be displayed for the duration of the Expo, and visitors are invited to bid on their favourite piece. All funds raised will be donated to Habitat for Humanity, a community development organisation which builds homes for the previously disadvantaged.

Everybody loves DIY and is tempted to try their hand at least once – check out the brand new DIY Workshop feature area offering all sorts of handy tips. Industry experts will demonstrate, build, modify, repair, revamp and pimp just about anything relating to home improvement!

Now in its seventh year, the Audiovision Sound Emporium again promises to be one of the highlights at this year’s Cape HOMEMAKERS Expo.  The Sound Emporium will offer visitors a substantial range of the most advanced, new generation digital home entertainment, sound distribution and digital imaging products.

Products on display will include Smart TV’s, 3DTV, a Full HD Master Audio Theatre, 3 other dedicated listening studios, high technology smartphone applications and entertainment distribution, hi-fi and TV supports and brackets as well as a full range of digital imaging and printing solutions. Leaders in their respective fields will showcase their products such as Boston, Geneva Audio, Harman/Kardon, JBL, KEF, Mission, NAD, Rotel, Samsung, Sony, Toshiba, Panasonic, Yamaha and Vogel’s.

DIY Program • Thursday - Sunday 

• 11:00 - 12:00 - Well-known DIY editor of tuis and home magazines, Ashley Stemmett, will show you how to design and create your own furniture piece.

• 12:30 - 13:30 - Marlene and Bibette of Fancy That will give new life to your favourite old pieces.

• 14:00 - 15:00 - Lauren Shantall, who heads up the Freeworld Design Centre, will show you how to colour block and also how to apply the new granite paint from Midas Earthcote.

• 15:30 - 16:30 - DIY Divas’ Cornelia Wiegmann will show you how to make something out of nothing, especially for chicks who want to learn the tricks.
