A home always feels fresh and updated once it has been rid of all clutter, it is the one thing that doesn't cost much and has an instant effect on the look and feel of your home. Here are some easy and affordable ways to organise and freshen your home.

Living Room

1. Cover up:

  • One of the easiest ways to uplift your living room is by changing the covers on your couch. If you have always had plain fabrics then change to a fashionable print.
  • A new throw or home-made cushion covers created from remnants of eye-catching fabric will give your decor a boost.

2. A lighter touch:

  • Heavy lined curtains can bring the mood of a room down, so why not replace them with lighter curtains made with delicate fabrics.
  • This small change will instantly transform the look of your living room, give it a new lease on life and welcome in the fresh air.
  • If privacy is an issue, you can layer the look with blinds.

3. As good as new:

  • If your wooden furniture needs a pick-me-up, painting is the best option. You'll save money on replacing it and you'll be left with a fashionable new piece by the end of the project.
  • Set aside an afternoon and spand time preparing the wood before you repaint.
  • White paint never fails to look gorgeous and it can make your room feel a lot more spacious too.

Laundry Area

1. In its place:

  • Encourage tidying up for all the family by making sure there is a place for everything. A peg bag on the wall will make sure worktops are kept clear.

2. Neat and tidy:

  • A versatile storage system, which includes shelves, hanging storage and drawers, will breathe new life into your laundry area and make sure that you can keep up with your laundry demands.

3. Linen lift:

  • For beautifully soft, clean and fresh laundry, treat yourself to linen sprays, pillow mist and ironing water.
  • Keep all these products in a handy laundry trolley, that will help make doing the washing less of a chore.

4. Clear the clutter:

  • The key to clearing clutter is good organisation.
  • Assess problem areas, such as piles of laundry by the washing machine and overflowing worktops, then look for solutions, which could be as simple as a row of shelving or a moveable trolley.

Kitchen

1. All clear:

  • Stock up on clear storage boxes for leftovers, so it's easier to find ingredients at mealtimes.

2. The great divide:

  • Make recycling easier with dedicated bags or bins for cans, glass and paper.
  • A great incentive for all the family to go green, you'll never look back.

3. Room for more:

  • Kitchen cupboards are a target area when it comes to clearing clutter, and the main issue always seems to be lack of space.
  • Increase your options with clever, specially designed under-shelf steel baskets and other innovative storage options available.

4. Food for thought:

  • If you are planning a new kitchen, discuss options with your designer, as many companies offer fantastic, space-saving designs to make life easier.
  • For existing cupboards, shop around for internal racks, stackable baskets and shelves that can be slotted in.

Bedroom

1. Boxed up

  • Create space in your wardrobe by transferring not-often-worn clothes to boxes under your bed.

2. Out of sight:

  • Donate to charity anything you haven't worn in the last year, and store out-of-season items in vacuum bags.
  • Simply bag up the clothes, attach your vacuum cleaner nozzle and suckout the air.

3. Shoe queen:

  • Dumping shoes at the bottom of the wardrobe looks untidy and can damage them. Look out for racks, hanging canvas solutions that loop over your wardrobe rail or sealed stackable boxes.

This is a great blog! Probably one of the most excellent I’ve read so far!

For most of us, when we live in clutter we feel lazy and idle
for no reason at all.
Staring at the clutter is enough to make us wanna go back to bed
and sleep some more.
We don't feel like doing anything when the house is a mess,
thus we become unproductive.

Here's the absolute fastest
way to de-clutter your home
and life.
