Cars wearing SA-flag ‘Shrek Ears’, flying flags from their windows as if they were part of the official government cavalcade, and every second billboard saying ‘Soccer this’ or ‘2010-that’… SURELY just about every red-blooded South African has football fever by now!
Patricia Wild, an EMS (Economic Management Sciences) teacher at Weltevreden Park Primary, came up with a unique idea to instil some football fever in the students at the school. She has created some fabulously unique pot-plants. The ‘pot’ being a genuine football, each painted with the national flag of a particular country.
These flag-adorned plants grace the entrance foyer at the school, and really brighten the space with soccer spirit.
The closer the World Cup approaches the more soccer-branded merchandise has been seen emerging on the market. Amidst all this hype, of people scrambling to show their support, this vibrant ‘football-foliage’ becomes a unique World Cup collectable, still to grace your coffee table long after the vuvuzelas’ echo has faded.
If you would be interested in owning one of these special pieces of World Cup history, Miss Wild will make to order, but in very small quantities only. You can contact her on 082 667 5280.
