Have you ever dreamed about having a stylish celebrity bedroom, but have totally steered clear of this subject because you do not really get a celebrity salary? Let me tell you a little secret – having a celeb style bedroom does not have to leave you bankrupt – all you have to do is to shop around and you are bound to find the exact replica of the furniture and accessories or something that nearly looks the same, at affordable, local prices.
We took a photo of Nicky Hilton’s stylish black and white bedroom and shopped around for items that can help you to recreate a similar look.
Get the bed!
This stylish black 4 piece Amanda Queen size bedroom set, from Furniture Warehouse might not look exactly like the one in Nicky’s bedroom, but will certainly form a good base for the look that you want to create. The set consists of a base-headboard combination, two Teri pedestals with drawers and a Jemma storage box. Black furniture is timeless and can also be combined with red, blue and green for a dramatic look and feel, when you get tired of white accessories.
Get the chair!
Add a similar stylish armchair to your bedroom just like Nicky. This Regency Armchair from Weylandts was inspired by the French Era. White metal furniture is produced by craftsmanship handed over from generation to generation and is an alloy of White Copper, Nickel & Zinc. This range also consists of an Ottoman, Dining Chair & Headboard.
For a different twist, also consider this stylish white leather armchair from Weylandts. It is perfect for sinking into after a long, hard day. The Art Deco-inspired Paris Chair is comfortable and contemporary and will be a talking point in any room.
Decorate your armchair and bed with these stylish Black Corsage scatter cushions from @Home.
Get the duvet!
This crispy white duvet set with embroidery from @Home will be the ideal complement to this elegant bedroom.
Get the chandelier!
Although not an exact match, this classy chandelier by Lumin Light Nett will definitely add sparkle to your bedroom.
For a different twist choose this elegant black and metal chandelier from Radiant Lighting’s Tellus range.
Add lighting with this beautiful standing lamp, also from Radiant’s Tellus range, or choose bedside lamps from this range for an elegant look and feel.
Get the curtains!
These silky black lined curtains by Yellow Corner will help complete the overall look of your celebrity bedroom.
Curtain accessories: Try the black metal curtain rods and tie backs from Mr. Price Home to ensure that your curtains are always displayed at their best.
Wall covering
Chiffon White 4 from Dulux is a fresh neutral that should be used with colours from the same mood to create truly stunning rooms. It will look wonderful with the black- and white colour scheme in this celeb bedroom.
Flooring options
If you want to get the classic wooden floor look and feel, but can not afford to have genuine hard wood installed, consider laminated flooring. Laminated flooring is basically a floor covering that consists of laminated materials that are made to look like natural products such as wood or stone. It is produced from synthetic material that is combined with recycled products to give it a natural feel. Because of its light appearance, it makes a room seem bigger. The good news is that this product is more affordable and easy to install. The Royal Beech 8mm laminated flooring from Floors Direct will look very good in your celebrity room.
Accessories
Decorate your celeb-style room with interesting accessories like:
- The 2-in-1 tea light holder from Woolworths.
- The Matte Silver 2 piece collage photo frame from @Home.
Tips for redoing a bedroom:
Even if you do not have the means to recreate a celebrity bedroom, but still feel that you are in desperate need of a change – there are some affordable ways to give your room a new look and feel:
Plan of action: Like with anything else in live, redoing your room will also require some planning. Decide what you want and can afford to do and work around that. Determine what you will need to accomplish your goal and what the cost will be. Plan in which order things need to be done and draw up a schedule to help you do everything in an orderly fashion.
Choose a colour scheme, so you will know exactly what to look for when you go shopping.
A new coat of paint: Nothing makes a room look better than a fresh coat of paint. Pale colours will make your room look bigger, whilst rich darker colours will add a cosy touch. Check out Dulux’s paint calculator to determine how much paint you will need for your room - http://www.dulux.co.za/advice/paint_calculator/index.jsp.
Ensure that the paint you choose suit the theme you have chosen for the room.
Mix and match furniture well: Whether you are buying new furniture or using existing items, feel free to mix and match old and modern pieces for a fresh look. Adding a new modern chair to an existing room with older furniture could look amazing, whilst an ultra modern bedroom set with an antique chair could also be very interesting.
Good lighting: Lighting is very important as it can be used to highlight the vocal points in your room. Bedside lamps, standing lamps and interesting light fittings can be added to compliment your style, whilst down lights and adjustable light control can help set the mood.
Clear the clutter: Get rid of all the unwanted, useless clutter in your room and replace it with useful, decorative items that won’t leave your room feeling overcrowded and overdone.
