Do you love cooking, but are reluctant to make home cooked meals in fear of high electricity bills or simply because you just do not have the time? Is your family slowly but surely getting tired of those instant solutions that you serve up for dinner? Well don’t despair, we have found a quick and energy effective solution to all your cooking troubles. The new Snappy Chef Induction Cooker will cook meals in half the time and will save you loads of energy.

We asked the experts at Snappy Chef to tell us more about this interesting new innovation:

Q: Tell us more about your company and where it started?

A: “Catch innovations 22cc is a business that prides itself on finding the latest and most innovative products on the market to provide to their many clients. The company also gives people the opportunity to join them as sales executives to start their own lucrative businesses. The Snappy Chef Induction Cooker, the latest addition to the company’s range of innovative products, is without any doubt the new flagship of Catch Innovations 22cc and has done extremely well during recent shows. We expect to see great results and returns from this product.”

Q: What inspired the Snappy Chef induction cooker?

A: “Most people in Europe and Asia make use of Induction Cookers in their houses for cooking because of the high electricity rates. In South Africa people are not so familiar with Induction Cooking yet because in the past we got our electricity at relatively “cheap” rates, but now everything has changed. These days everybody is highly concerned about the high electricity bills we get every month. This inspired us to seek an energy efficient alternative for our clients to make their lives more affordable.”

Q: Tell us more about your product and how it works?

A: “The Snappy Chef saves you more than 50% on electricity and cooks 64% faster than a normal stove. The main component of any induction cooker is an electromagnet which is fitted under the cooking surface. An electric current is applied to the electromagnet, which produces an oscillating magnetic field. That magnetic field creates heat in the cooking vessel over it by inducing a current in the electrically conductive pot. The cooking surface itself does not get hot, only the pot that is placed on the surface.

The Snappy Chef stove is fitted with a glass top and has a touch screen that is easy to use. There are three settings:

  • Power: Where the wattage amount used can be adjusted.
  • Temperature: The temperature can be adjusted from 90°C to 270°C.
  • Timer: Can be adjusted up to 3:59 minutes where after the stove will automatically switch off. Induction stoves will not work with glass, aluminium or copper cookware. It has to be an electrically conductive cookware like cast iron, stainless steel etc.

Note: As the stove needs a pot to be placed on the glass surface to be able to work, it will automatically switch off once the pot is removed.”

Q: What are the advantages and disadvantages of this oven?

A: “There is no doubt that this wonderful GREEN product, the SNAPPY CHEF induction cooker, is the future of cooking in South Africa. This is definitely the CHEAPER-FASTER-SAFER way of cooking.

  • Cheaper because it provides rapid heating, which means that a lot less energy, is lost during the cooking process.
  • Faster because it provides instant heat and you don’t have to wait long for an oven to heat up before you can start cooking, thus also saving you time.
  • Safer because the product does not create any heat of its own – it creates no heat itself.

It is even faster than a gas stove but has a greater degree of temperature control and it is also a lot safer than a gas stove because there are no open flames.

Once you’ve used the SNAPPY CHEF, you will never want to use your old stove again!”

Q: How and where can readers get hold of this cooker?

A: “The Snappy Chef Head office is in Pretoria. Readers that are interested in this economical product can contact them on (012) 997 1611/2 or e-mail them info@snappychef.co.za. To find out more about Snappy Chef, you can also visit their website.”

Q: What does the oven cost?

A: “This amazing GREEN product only costs R999.”

Recently bought snappy chef, and very pleased with it. One question, can I get it calibrated to start up at a lower temp setting, say 120, as I find it is set far too high at 180, and always have to set it down.
Great performance otherwise. Yr reply will be appreciated. Thanks

Since when is copper and aluminium not electrically conductive? If this was true you would not have electricity in your home because all the power lines are either one of these.

Johan Minnaar on 28/11/2010

can the timer be set for longer than 3:59 minutes?

EUGENE on 05/12/2010

I'd like to know if there is an induction cooker for Wok's available from the supplier.
I can see an enormous advantage in using it for this type of cooking - instant on, like gas. Temperature controllable & yet no dangerous flame.

Dick Trevor on 07/12/2010

I think the wording is incorrect / misleading.
The pot / pan probably does not need to be electrically conductive, but rather magnetically conductive. There are three common elements which are magnetic, Nickel, Iron & Cobalt. U can work out the prices on those.

Dick Trevor on 07/12/2010

Wessel Strydom on 10/09/2011

I would like to become an agent for the east rand. Ideal for camping and the great outdoors. Await you reply.

Willie van der Merwe on 23/09/2011

This can only work with steel alloy/cast iron pots because the iron content is magnetically permeable which results in a strong eddy current being developed in the base of the pot which is the source of direct heat in the pot and not the coil below supplying the magnetic energy.
Induction cooking has been used in the canned food industry almost as long as canned food has been around!!
Induction heating has also been used in the smelting of lead, tin, zinc, aluminium & copper for a long time!!
Glass, ceramic, aluminium or copper can easily be used if a steel/iron flatplate is placed on the bottom of the pot/utensil, however not without water or oil to cover it!!

Cedric Hansen on 26/09/2011

How much do they sell for, and do you get one with 4 plates

nicolene on 12/10/2011

Please let me know when you have industrial induction plates

Johan Small on 20/10/2011

Hetta Strauss on 07/11/2011

Kom dit uit met n 4 plaat wat die bestaande hob kan vervang? Kan geen bestaande potte en panne gebruik word behalwe die wat deur Snappy Chef verkoop word?
