We are living in a very health conscious world and a lot of people end up eating dull and tasteless food as they feel that boiling is better than frying. Traditionally this might have been the case, especially if you think about those old traditional electric frying pans in which your granny used to make chicken on Sunday – and yes it was delicious but also very oily. Modern technology has ensured that this is not the case anymore. Manufacturers are making modern style electrical frying pans and indoor grills that now make it possible for you to be healthy, but still enjoy the delicious fried food that you love.
We decided to shop around and see what’s available on the ‘electric frying pan’ scene:

Kenwood HG220 Table top Grill
Have you ever felt like having barbequed meat on a rainy day and you do not have a roof to braai under, so you are left disappointed and still longing for that classic steak on the grill? Well then you should try Kenwood’s HG220 Table Top Grill. Not only is this grill suitable for indoor and outdoor use (if the extension can reach off course), it is also a healthier and quicker way to prepare that braaivleis. The Health Grill is thermostatically controlled. It has a non-stick coating and there is no smoking or spattering with this grill. Fat drips away, but onto a cold surface so foods are not grilled in fat like with ordinary gas braais with solid tops. There is also no need to start the fire and get your hands dirty and even the ladies can prepare their own braaivleis without any help. Definitely a good investment in your health and happiness.
How to maintain your non-stick cookware:
- There are plastic or Perspex utensils especially manufactured for non-stick cookware and there is a reason for this. Using steel utensils will damage and scratch your non-stick surface.
- Do not use a Goldilocks, knife or any hard item to clean your non-stick pan. Rather let it soak in water to which you added some Bicarbonate of Soda and lemon juice. Non-stick cookware should be wiped clean and not rubbed or scratched in any way.
- Be careful if you have electrical non-stick cookware that the elements and electrical part do not get wet when cleaning the pan.
