Cape Town HOMEMAKERS Expo is delighted to announce that DARG (Domestic Animal Rescue Group) has been chosen as the beneficiary organization of the ‘for the love of CONCRETE’ Design Competition.

The exciting concrete design competition, created in collaboration with World of Decorative Concrete, will showcase 40+ unique concrete-based interior design pieces that will be on auction for the duration of the show days. Join the silent bidding and raise funds for DARG!

DARG is a pro-life, non-profit organisation and adoption facility in Hout Bay, Cape Town. It supports the rescue, care, rehabilitation and re-homing of neglected, abandoned and abused domestic animals. The facility is currently home to some 300 dogs and cats including their 63 “fire animals”.

After the devastating fire in Imizamo Yethu, Hout Bay on 11 March 2017, DARG rescued over 100 animals. Sixty-three of these remain in DARG’s care – 31 cats (owners unidentified) and 32 dogs (these cannot go home until their owners’ homes are rebuilt).

DARG’s amazing work in their surrounding communities is an inspiration to all. Besides looking after their own animals, DARG also provides basic medical care for dogs and cats, and education and general assistance for pet owners in Imizamo Yethu and Hangberg, Hout Bay. The facility also engages with other NPOs in these communities.

DARG also does their bit in reducing unwanted and consequently neglected animals by offering free sterilisation of dogs and cats. As part of the SPONSOR-A-SNIP program, people can sponsor a dog or cat to be sterilised for only R350.

The facility does not receive any Government funding and relies on the goodwill of the public and corporate friends to keep its doors open.
