We sat down with Riekert De Wet, founder of Wanzi H2O to talk about what they do and why it’s such a game changer.
Wanzi H2O is a water filtration company, offering an affordable and effective five-stage filtration system that provides clean, great-tasting drinking water directly from your tap. Their system removes impurities such as chlorine, heavy metals, microplastics, bacteria, and other contaminants commonly found in municipal tap water.
BUT Wanzi H2O gives you great water, without the upfront costs of installing the filtration systems, and with none of the maintenance headaches that come with owning a water purifier. They offer the unique option of simply paying a monthly subscription and letting their expert team do the rest.
If you have access to running water and a small space available below your kitchen counter, they can come, install your system and give you pure water “on tap” within a couple of hours. All you do is pay a monthly subscription. They take care of everything else.

Riekert has a secret weapon to keep costs low and consistently give his customers the very best service.
“My only claim to fame is owning a small shipping, clearing and forwarding company (MFC) Marj Freight Consultants. Customers ask how we can offer a filtration system so cost effectively and this is how we keep the costs low.”
He knows all the shortcuts in shipping and all cost saving pathways to reduce his customers’ landed cost.
The company is still in its early stages, having only been registered in 2024. Wanzi H2O is based in the East Rand and operates as a lean, hands-on team.
“While we have a small internal structure – including installations and logistics, we are supported by partners like HM Marketing, who are an integral part of our team for marketing and brand visibility.”
Riekert’s passion for the business is obvious
“We are a highly motivated team of people, and nothing excites us more than providing top notch service to a new customer and seeing their joy once they taste the difference. Especially for families and individuals who may not have known just how much cleaner and healthier water can be and how it can improve their health.”

What has been your biggest challenge so far?
As for any new start-up company our single biggest challenge is brand awareness. We are a new name to the market, which is very competitive, however our product is unique with the subscription base model which you can sign up for only R185.00 per month. Our strategy is to build trust, educate the customers and demonstrate that clean, filtered water can be both affordable and reliable.
Its so much more than a business
Riekert sees his work as a true calling. He has a driving desire to provide clean, affordable water to as many clients as possible. Every step of the way he is conscious of the overheads and how he can keep costs as low as possible. Yes, Wanzi H2O is a business, but for Riekert the business is about giving people healthy options.
“Our biggest success thus far has been the constant great feedback we get from satisfied clients. Our filtration systems work, and the support network we have built around the monthly subscribers deliver on what we promise. Hassle free healthy water, on tap.”
They are proud of how far they’ve come in such a short time – from an idea to a fully operational business in only a couple of years. Riekert is more motivated than ever to expand his reach and bring safe, healthy water to as many customers as possible.
Water is the key to a healthy life
“I wish more people understood the importance of clean water and the effect it has on our health and our gut in particular.”
So many underlying health problems start with our gut, with what we eat and drink, and a big part is the water we drink and use to prepare our food with.
“People are under the illusion that if they buy bottled water, they are safe, but this could not be further from the truth.”
The issue with bottled water, according to Riekert is that you don’t know the whole origin and distribution history of the water you end up buying.
“You don’t know how long the water has been in the container, what temperature changes the bottled water was exposed to from the filling point…”
There is also a lack of understanding around what’s really in municipal tap water. Even though it might appear clean, it contains microplastics, heavy metals, chlorine and bacterial contaminants.
What does the future hold?
“With Wanzi being a fairly new start-up company, the future is still a little unpredictable as to what we can achieve but with our dedication, passion, hard work and belief in God the sky is the limit.”
Their short-term focus is on expanding their footprint across Gauteng, steadily ensuring that more homes have access to affordable, hassle-free filtration systems. It’s about spreading health, one sip at a time.
“Long term we will look into franchise agreements, in order to bring this innovative subscription-based model for fresh water, into all other provinces.”
