Pantone has taken the past two years into account and come up with the perfect antidote to the worldwide pandemic hangover from which we’ve all been suffering. Introducing the Pantone Colour of the Year: Very Peri.
A new colour for a brave new world.
The happiest of blues!
The 2022 colour of the year is: “Very Peri”, a happy shade of periwinkle blue.
2022’s colour is a beautiful, fresh, delightful and elevating shade of lilac-ish blue. It will lift your mood, clear out the stress-induced Corona-cobwebs and open your eyes to brand new opportunities.
“It was really important for us to come up with a new colour, because we have a very new vision of the world now,” Pantone Colour Institute executive director Leatrice Eiseman told CNN when asked about the new colour.
Last year, for 2021, and following the harrowing 2020 global crisis which was Covid -19, Pantone chose two very different colours, a light grey and a soft yellow. It was more about comfort and the familiar. Nothing new, nothing flashy. Just safety in isolation and quiet perseverance.
Here’s to a Brighter Future With Pantone!
Accordingly, this year, with Very Peri, the mood has changed. It symbolizes the changing world and the ongoing shifts we are experiencing as we look ahead beyond the uncertainty and isolation of 2020 and 2021.
Based on their media statement, Pantone is of the opinion that the colour is the “happiest and warmest of all the blue hues,” blending the “faithfulness and constancy of blue with the energy and excitement of red” to deliver an “empowering mix of newness” with a “carefree confidence and a daring curiosity that animates our creative spirit.”
Make This Colour of the Year Your Own
Be bold with Very Peri. Use it in your home, as your new go-to manicure colour, in your wardrobe. The possibilities are endless. Embrace all that it represents and decide to make the most of the future we have ahead of us.
You don’t have to repaint your bedroom feature wall immediately, but keep this happy little colour in mind when it comes to occasional items and consumables. A Very Peri notebook, a set of kitchen towels in this colour, or possibly a desk trinket. We are not saying you should be a slave to something as basic as a yearly colour prediction, but we do enjoy the fun that comes with being on the lookout for this colour through the year and embracing it as a sign of global healing and maybe, just maybe, finding a new normal!
We’ve all done the January surviving. Let’s do February thriving!
If you do decide to paint your entire house Very Peri, who are we to judge? Just make sure you use our trusted painters to get the job done.
